Welcome to the Anderson-Prichard Oil Corporation Retrospective

Welcome to the Anderson-Prichard Oil Company website!

This website provides a retrospective look into the history of an august company that existed in Oklahoma City from 1919 to 1960, and operated gas stations across multiple states in the central U.S., as well as oil exploration, oil drilling, and crude refinery operations.

The company grew from a partnership between Lev H. Prichard and J. Steve Anderson. These entrepreneurs and philanthropists quickly identified the business opportunities in Oklahoma and the fast-evolving oil industry, and they got involved in it.

But, the story of this company is also one of perseverence — it was not a simple formula of “get in early and then reap the rewards”. The company developed in some fits and starts, and the young founders steadily learned and refined their formula until the corporate machinery was running on high-octane gasoline.

The Anderson-Prichard Oil company was a significant business in the oil and gas industry, as an early player in prospecting, drilling, and refining oil. Like other oil companies of the era, Anderson-Prichard found it advisable and profitable to sell their gasoline, as well as other valuable by-products of crude refining, directly to retailers and resellers.
